diversity

Our diverse firm

Valuing diversity is at the heart of the Bevan Brittan culture. It’s not about quotas or ticking boxes, we believe embracing diversity enables us to offer the highest standard of services to clients, and to create the best possible working environment for our people. By valuing diversity, our firm is not only fairer, it is stronger, more effective and, ultimately, more successful.

Our people

We continually monitor our performance to ensure our people feel comfortable in their working environment, regardless of race, religion, colour, sex, age, nationality, disability or sexual orientation. We run a firm-wide diversity training programme, and our flexible working and family-friendly policies enable our people to balance their professional and personal lives.

Our clients

We are committed to developing a progressive, open culture in tune with modern society. We work hard to understand our clients, their business, their culture, and their needs, and we actively seek clients’ input into our partner-led Diversity Working Group.

Our recruitment policy

We have an equal opportunities recruitment policy and try to ensure that all sections of society have access to our recruitment campaigns. We are working with the Black Solicitors Network, the Black Lawyers Directory and Birmingham Professional DiverCity to ensure we recruit from the widest possible talent pool.

Our local communities

Our partnering programme with local schools and with the College of Law enables students from all sections of the community to experience life in a legal firm. We arrange activities ranging from mentoring and mock interviews to work placements, right across our business.

Diversity beyond Bevan Brittan

Our commitment to diversity does not stop at our doorstep. We require our suppliers to provide us with details of their diversity programmes, and we are heavily involved in two projects run by The Law Society and the Ministry of Justice to increase diversity in the legal community.

The firm is a “leading player” in the Local Government sector.
