Bevan Brittan’s projects team is recognised as being amongst the best in the UK. We have one of the largest dedicated projects teams with 29 lawyers including seven partners working exclusively on PFI and PPP. With a growing national and international client base accounting for near 350 schemes and having financially closed in excess of 180 schemes, the team continues to flourish.

The team has a national reputation for work in creating innovative procurement routes such as NHS Lift and Building Schools for the Future. We operate across the public and private sectors with significant work in regeneration. Due to the continued growth, an opportunity now exists for a newly qualified assistant to join the team.

The Role

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, recent examples include:

  • Advising the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and Partnerships for Schools (PfS)  and numerous local authorities  on the Building Schools for the Future programme, the scheme to replace all 3500 secondary schools in England
  • Leading the negotiations on the  £400 million  North Bristol NHS Trust PFI scheme for the reprovision of Southmead Hospital, the first health scheme to be delivered using competitive dialogue and a funding competition from the outset. 

 Specific responsibilities to include:

  • Maintain and improve relations with existing and future clients by using strong interpersonal and professional skills.
  • Support Associates and Partners in developing and growing client relationships.
  • Assist in the marketing of the firm always promoting the strengths of the firm and where possible recommending the complete services of the firm to others.
  • Develop strong interpersonal relationships with staff and clients at all levels.
  • Provide all our clients with an outstanding service by understanding their personal needs and delivering a service second to none in a cost effective manner.
  • Complete management of client files including financial aspects.
  • Meticulous with time recording, working efficiently so as to make the service provided cost effective.
  • Ensure instructions and procedures are efficiently handled and systematised where possible.

The Individual

  • An ability to understand and relate to clients’ needs, showing sympathy and empathy when necessary.
  • Priority and time management skills.
  • Flexible approach.
  • Organised, with lateral thinking skills and an eye for detail.
  • Able to cope with pressures associated with the handling multiple caseloads.
  • A team player, with the temperament to form working partnerships with partners, colleagues and subordinates.
  • Knowledge of relevant area of law.
