Solicitor

MLPI
Birmingham

The Medical Law & Personal Injury Department at Bevan Brittan provides specialist legal advice across the private and public sectors. As well as providing claims resolution advice to a range of insurance companies and self-insured corporations, we also act for numerous public sector bodies, particularly within the NHS.

The Role

There is an exciting opportunity for a clinical negligence lawyer to join the team and provide innovative solutions in what are often complex and high value cases. Ideally you will have a defendant clinical negligence background. Otherwise, a strong knowledge of either defendant insurance work or claimant clinical negligence experience is important.

Over the last three years we have dealt with hundreds of claims, ranging from minor injuries to multi-million pound cases. We are frequently involved in ground-breaking reported cases – most recently Thompstone v Tameside in which the Court of Appeal decided to link the indexation of future care payments to an earnings-related index rather than the Retail Prices Index.

The Individual

  • Strong team player.
  • Pro-active individual with strong interpersonal skills and an ability or desire to pro-actively develop client relationships.
  • Project management skills, utilising systems where appropriate.
  • Priority and time management skills.
  • Flexible approach.
  • Organised, with lateral thinking skills and an eye for detail.
  • Able to cope with pressures associated with running a caseload and assisting on more complex cases.
