The Bevan Brittan Health team has been advising the NHS since its inception in 1948 and has been ranked as number one (in Chambers) in Healthcare since 1995. Over the last year, our 146-strong team has worked with more than a quarter of all Acute Trusts nationally, including 20 Acute Foundation Trusts. Put simply, we understand the issues facing our clients better than any other law firm and provide a fast, efficient, value for money service that helps our Trust clients concentrate on providing top-class clinical services.
Providing a genuinely national (and increasingly international) service, there is nothing that can be thrown at our team that we haven’t seen before. Our approach is to work with staff, not make their lives more difficult - as one nurse wrote to our Chief Executive: “I would have no hesitation in recommending Bevan Brittan as a firm who do provide a service that goes that extra mile”. From inquests, consent to treatment, advice on HR policies, through to estate management and outsourcing shared services, Bevan Brittan supports the efficient operational delivery of day-to-day Trust business. We help you to manage and even reduce your legal budget through transparent and fair pricing and, because of our extensive industry experience, can often help to spot possible cost improvements.
Bevan Brittan is the UK’s leading provider of advice to Foundation Trusts, having helped over 40 of them (both Acute and Mental Health) achieve FT status. Much of our ongoing work with existing FTs is groundbreaking, such as our work in relation to new forms of finance. We are recognised as experts on the new commissioning contract. We regularly advise on new models of delivery such as social enterprise schemes, joint ventures such as for private patient work in the Middle East, and we are at the forefront of development of new forms of finance to replace PFI.
We have also been heavily involved with all of the Acute Trust mergers to date. We pride ourselves on giving the parties involved effective and clear advice that does not unnecessarily raise the temperature of the discussions and which focuses on creating a successful outcome for patient services.
Unusually for a law firm, we play a role in leading and shaping the market by creating new ways for clients to achieve their business goals. In doing so, we have attracted independent sector clients who look to us for specialist input - such as Spire Healthcare - as well as major corporates clients that form part of the NHS supply chain. Our unique positioning and understanding of how best to increase market share, combined with our deep understanding of exactly how the health industry works, means we are in the perfect position to help enhance shareholder value.
