My Background
I joined Bevan Ashford in June 2003. Before that I was a
senior associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. I became
a partner at Bevan Brittan LLP in 2004. Solicitor Advocate
and CEDR Accredited Mediator.
What I do
I provide commercial, to the point dispute resolution advice
and represent clients in mediations, High Court proceedings
and in international arbitrations. My areas of expertise
include major contractual disputes, cross-border litigation,
obtaining injunctions, fraud claims, professional negligence
claims and regulatory investigations. I have appeared as
solicitor advocate over 20 times in 2004 and 2005.
I head up the
Manufacturing sector of the firm's Commerce, Industry and
Services division.
Some examples
In 2005 I led the team acting for retail entrepreneur Chris
Gorman in his successful defence of a £100 million claim in
the Gadget Shop litigation, described by The Lawyer as one
of the "monster commercial trials of 2005".
In 2005 I acted for Imperial Tobacco defending a £4 million
claim by an advertising agent in the Commercial Court. After
we had made eight different applications in six months, the
proceedings were struck out and the Claimant was ordered to
pay Imperial Tobacco's costs on an indemnity basis.
In 2005 I
appeared as advocate for a manufacturing company at six
injunction and summary judgment hearings in four months in
proceedings to restrain a team of former employees from
setting up in competition, soliciting employees and
customers and misusing confidential information.
