Peter is an expert in joint ventures, outsourcing and partnering arrangements and acts for the public sector, private companies and funders. He is also head of the outsourcing transactions practice at Bevan Brittan.

My background

What I Do
I specialise in commercial contracts, shared services, long term partnering, outsourcing and joint venture arrangements. My experience is broad based with significant transactions completed in the healthcare, banking/financial institutions, technology, retail, logistics and built environment market places. I act variously for procuring entities, bidders, sub-contractors and funders, often project managing large multi-disciplinary teams both internally and externally.

Recent work includes:

Advising in connection with a substantial joint venture for the provision of pathology services.
Advising on the joint venture arrangements for a substantial residential property scheme.
Advising the prime contractor for the provision of an integrated care records managed service at UCLH.
Advising a major financial institution on its lending strategy for NHS LIFT and ISTC schemes, subsequently leading for that bank on four wave one ISTC projects.
Advising on several pathfinding PFI/PPP schemes, and hard and soft support service outsourcings particularly in the health and education sectors.
Advising a global bank on a significant business process outsourcing to it from another financial institution.
Advising a major national retailer on a series of high value warehousing and logistics outsourcings, call centre support agreements and supply chain reengineering.

During my first 10 years post qualification I was a company/commercial lawyer and completed numerous company and business sales and acquisitions, joint ventures, distribution agreements and bespoke software development and software licensing agreements, in many cases with an international dimension requiring the management and coordination of local legal advice.

Nearly all my work has involved a thorough understanding and project management of substantial workforce transfers. Work at the public/private interface necessarily requires a high degree of familiarity with public procurement rules and internal government structures and confidentiality arrangements as between principals and as between competing bids are a regular feature of my work.
