I am a general property practitioner and see
my appointment as an opportunity to develop the firm’s
existing client base thereby strengthening current client
relationships.
My Background
I qualified in Scotland in 1995 and re-qualified in English
Law in 1997. I joined Lawrence Graham’s property department
in 1997 and moved to Herbert Smith in 2001. I joined Bevan
Brittan LLP in February 2006.
What I do
I am a general property practitioner with experience in a
variety of areas.
Some examples
I have worked on the property aspects of
PFI transactions, landlord and tenant work and investment
acquisitions and disposals. Recent work includes:
- Acting for a number of hospital trusts in respect of the property aspects of hospital PFIs.
- Working for a County Council on a redevelopment project which included the negotiation of funding agreements with a Regional Development Agency.
- Acting for a large media company on the negotiations for the purchase of its new head office.
- Acting for a County Council on the grant of a long lease for a hotel development.
- Acting for pension funds and institutional investors on the purchases and sales of investment properties including all aspect of management of the properties.
- Advising a private company formed by the Government on all property aspects of its relationship with Government including negotiating complex lease and option arrangements.
- Advising an airport operating company on the transfer of it non-core properties into a separate fund.
- Advising on the property aspects of the purchase of a chemicals business.
