What I Do
I work with treating doctors and nursing staff to understand the factual background in clinical negligence cases. I provide support to those involved at what can be a stressful time. I assess the quality of care provided by selecting the right team of experts. Once I have established whether or not the care provided was acceptable I settle those cases where fault has been found as quickly and fairly as possible and robustly defend those where it has not.

I deal with a broad spectrum of cases and have experience in most disciplines. Typically however my cases are high value, complex claims often involving brain or other neurological injury.

I constantly look for ways to refine and improve the service that we offer to our clients and am a part of the firm�s best practice group. Increasingly, I look for opportunities to settle claims on a global costs-inclusive basis to save costs and time.

Some examples
In 2006 I successfully defended a cerebral palsy claim at trial arising out of a delivery in 1990. The Claimant's appeal to the Court of Appeal was also successfully defended in 2007. Evans v Birmingham & Black Country Strategic Health Authority [2007] EWCA Civ 1300.

I recovered costs of in excess of �20,000 from a Claimant�s insurers after successfully defending a claim for alleged personality change following delayed diagnosis of a brain tumour.

I sent a message to a leading Claimant firm by defending a low value Obstetric claim to within 2 weeks of trial before forcing the Claimant to discontinue.

I settled all damages and costs on a claim reserved at �200,000 within 23 days of being instructed to act on behalf of the Defendant.
