My background

What I do
I specialise in interpreting and drafting construction and
related contracts and advising on procurement strategy.
Often, these contracts involve partnering and collaborative
working in the construction industry. I also frequently work
on PFI and PPP projects. I have written chapters on
Construction and Dispute Resolution in Sweet & Maxwell’s
textbook Public Private Partnerships and PFI.
Some examples
I was the principal legal draughtsman of the construction
documentation for NHS Estate’s ProCure 21 initiative and was
part of the team advising in relation to its setting up.
I was author of the the MoD’s
first integrated suite of construction contracts, Defcon
2000 and am joint author of
the 'Be' Collaborative Contract and the JCT-Constructing
Excellence Contract.
I was involved with drafting the NHS Estates/Partnerships UK
LIFT initiative for the redevelopment of primary health care
facilities and am part of the core team advising the
Department for Education and Skills/Partnership for Schools
'Building Schools
for
the Future' initiative. I
have
also acted
as an expert to the National Audit Office in connection with
its second report on the construction industry
