My background
Trained at Dibb Lupton; qualified 1991. Joined Bevan Ashford 1999, partner since 2001. Partner, Bevan Brittan LLP 2004-.
What I do
I specialise in resolving claims on behalf of insurers, self-insured corporations and public sector bodies. I have built up a substantial practice in handling stress claims. As well as defending claims, I advise corporate clients on stress at work issues.
I am the main client contact for the firm’s motor insurer clients and am currently handling a range of high value motor claims involving catastrophic head and spinal injuries, many of which are reserved at over £2million.
I am a panel lecturer for Medical and Legal Training Services, lecturing regularly in England and Ireland. I also lecture on stress for Butterworths.
Some examples
I defended a claim from a sportsman who played
internationally at amateur level. He claimed that a back
injury prevented him from turning professional, with a loss
of earnings of over £3million. The claim was actually
settled for £20,000
I defended a claim by a student that he had developed stress
and mental illness through failing exams due to negligent
teaching. The claim was defeated at trial.
I successfully defended on causation two serious back injury
claims from policemen involved in a road traffic accident.
