I am a partner and lead our clinical negligence team in Birmingham. We handle the full range of claims from low-value work right through to complex catastrophic injury on behalf of the NHS. I also supervise the department’s specialist cost team, which takes clinical negligence claims on behalf of the NHSLA from settlement to final resolution.
Our aim is to deal with all claims both fairly and effectively and to provide best value to the NHS, which can equally mean early settlement or defending a case to trial/assessment.
I have run a number of cases to the Court of Appeal including, most recently, the high-profile case of Thompstone v Tameside and Glossop Acute Services NHS Trust. Following the decision in that case, I am now performing a co-ordinating role for the NHS, bringing more than 100 other cases into line with the Court of Appeal Judgment.
In addition to my fee earning responsibilities, I also run Midwifery, Obstetric and Neurosurgical masterclasses for several local West Midlands NHS Trusts.
