I am a partner in the commercial department, specialising in advice to public sector bodies on their powers, responsibilities, standards and partnerships.
I joined the firm in 2002 after practising as a lawyer in the public sector for over 20 years. During that time I worked for four councils as an in-house lawyer, dealing with all aspects of public sector law. I was a Returning Office and Monitoring Officer and led major projects, working with cross disciplinary teams and elected councillors. I also was Director of a local government agency in Wales for three years, leading work on best value and political decision making for Welsh Councils.
Since joining Bevan Brittan I have advised many public bodies on issues ranging from investigations into conduct and standards matters, to complex partnering arrangements with other public sector bodies or with the private sector. These include Joint Venture agreements and shared services projects. I also provide training to clients on topics including robust decision making, conduct and standards for local government councillors.
