I am Head of Waste and Energy at Bevan Brittan and a partner in our Commercial & Infrastructure department.
I have been a projects lawyer for 15 years and specialise in waste and energy work for local authorities, health trusts, project developers, funders, EPC contractors and technology providers. I act for a number of Waste Disposal Authorities and closed, for example, the award winning SWDWP Waste Project in 2011 (Plymouth, Torbay and Devon) as well as Waste Management companies and other private companies such as Covanta Energy, Viridor, Veolia, Cyclerval and Cemex.
In relation to non waste energy, I act for a good number of health trusts and local authorities in relation to energy performance, district heating, wind and solar schemes. We act for private sector developers such as Purepower, Cynergin and Cofely, for example.
Over the years, I have been active in other project sectors and completed a succession of PFIs in the health sector and was instrumental in closing the first major DGH in Wales - a pathfinder scheme on the New Treasury Taskforce Guidance - and also took a key role on the recent Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Hospital PFI.
I have closed a number of healthcare deals for clients such as Costain and the Bank of Ireland as well as several Building Schools for the Future (BSF) schemes, including a high-profile BSF project in Newcastle for Sir Robert McAlpine.
I am also a regular speaker and chair at PFI and PPP conferences in the UK.
