I am a solicitor in the clinical risk team based in the firm's London office.
I joined Bevan Brittan in January 2010, having previously worked at another London firm specialising in healthcare law. My main practice area is clinical negligence and I am experienced in defending a wide variety of claims including complex surgical, intensive care, obstetric and orthopaedic cases. I work closely with the NHSLA and a number of NHS Trusts in London and the South East. My aim is to defend claims robustly where justified but to deal with cases fairly and cost-effectively where the treatment provided has been clearly sub-standard.
I have a broad interest in all areas of medical law and ethics and have provided training to doctors, nurses and NHS management on topics including the Mental Capacity Act, the importance of good record keeping and litigation in the NHS generally. Prior to entering practice I was involved in academic legal research which I pursued to doctoral level, specialising in human rights law as applied to end-of-life treatment decisions.
