I am a solicitor in the clinical risk team.
I deal with a range of general healthcare matters. I provide general advice on range of queries including whether potential side effects of a drug should be notified to the pharmaceutical company where there is no proven causal link; potential risks to the Trust in relation to moving an elderly patient to a residential home where faced with resistance form the family; whether clinicians should be providing reports for medico-legal work; and retention and destruction of records.
I provide all aspects of assistance in inquest management, representing clients at inquests, providing witness support and drafting protocols. I have experience in dealing with complex best interests matters, providing strategic advice at every stage, and in running Judicial Review matters. I also have experience in dealing with mental capacity and mental health issues, for example displacement of the Nearest Relative. Other experience includes childrens law, dealing with vulnerable adults, providing support in relation to serious untowards incidents, freedom of information act requests, confidentiality and wider governance issues.
