I am an associate specialising in defendant clinical negligence work. I have worked in this area since 1996 and have experience of a wide variety of cases, ranging in complexity and value. Most of my work involves catastrophic injury cases such as neurological and birth injury claims. I have a particular specialism in cerebral palsy and Erb's palsy cases, and also cases involving the interface between private/NHS healthcare provision.
My reported cases taken to trial include Page -v- Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust 2004 (considering the recoverability of investment management charges) and Younger -v- Dorset & Somerset SHA 2006 (considering the limitation period for economic loss and whether to extend the class of Claimants who can recover damages for psychiatric harm).
I have represented Trust clients at inquests and advised on claims handling procedures. I organise the Department's internal education programme of lunchtime seminars, many of which are attended by NHSLA and Trust clients.
