I trained with Bevan Brittan and qualified into the Construction and Engineering department in January 2006.
I advise a wide range of public and private sector clients in relation to all aspects of non-contentious construction law, including developers, public sector bodies, funders and contractors at all levels of the supply chain. My work covers a number of sectors, including education, health, housing, retail, leisure and infrastructure.
In the PPP/PFI field, I have been involved in numerous Building Schools for the Future (BSF) schemes acting for both local authorities and special purpose companies, from the initial procurement stage up to financial close, and have advised local authorities on one-school pathfinders and Academy schemes. I have also acted for Primary Care Trusts and funders on a number of LIFT schemes, as well as other health PFI projects.
Examples of non PPP/PFI projects I have been involved in include advising a local authority on the outsourcing of their transport and highways functions, acting for a chain of gyms on the construction documentation for two new gyms, advising a number of Universities in relation to the redevelopment of their estates and advising Registered Providers (formerly known as RSLs) with regard to all aspects of their procurement for new build and refurbishment projects.
As well as drafting and negotiating building contracts, development agreements, consultant appointments, novation agreements and related security documentation, I advise on procurement strategies and the use of joint venture agreements to best meet the clients' specific needs.
