I am a partner in the clinical risk team and a nationally recognised expert in clinical negligence with an emphasis on complex high-value brain injury cases. I am dual-qualified as both a barrister and a solicitor. I have been a partner since 1997. As an NHSLA-nominated Partner, I lead on the work we undertake for the NHSLA from our Bristol office to ensure consistent quality of service.
In addition to my clinical negligence work I advise the NHS about the repercussions of adverse incidents. I maintain my strong interest in advocacy and lead advocacy training within Bevan Brittan’s Medical Law department. In addition, as an inquest specialist, I frequently advise on high-profile jury inquests in a health context including media strategy and managing reputational risk.
I have a particular interest in the Patient Safety and sit as a lay member on the UK Panel for Healthcare Workers Infected with Bloodborne Viruses and on the CJD incidents panel.
