I lead a team of specialist lawyers who advise on all aspects of regulatory compliance and risk affecting health and social care providers across the public, private and voluntary sectors. My portfolio of work spans hospitals and clinics, care homes, children's homes, home care providers and nurseries. Clients include national regulators in both England and abroad, such as the Care Quality Commission, as well as a string of major providers.
My team and I deal with all types of regulatory action taken against providers, including urgent cancellations, regulatory prosecutions and appeals to the Crown Court, Tribunal and High Court. We also advise on applications to enter the regulated care system. In the corporate sector, we undertake regulatory due diligence exercises in relation to major acquisitions and disposals in the sector and advise on the structuring of start-up schemes where regulatory issues are often central.
Finally, I have a particular interest in advocacy and regularly act as a Presenting Officer for the General Social Care Council on admission and conduct cases relating to social workers.
