I have been a partner in Bevan Brittan since May 2007.
I act on behalf of the NHSLA and NHS Trusts and Strategic Health Authorities in the defence of clinical negligence cases. I provide support to the staff involved at what can be a stressful time. I assess the quality of care provided by selecting the right team of experts and advise on tactics accordingly.
I deal with a broad spectrum of cases and have experience in most clinical disciplines. Typically my cases are high value and complex claims often involving brain or other neurological injury. I have successfully defended several claims at trial including two maximum severity birth injury claims, the decision in one of which was upheld in the Court of Appeal.
I regularly provide training on the medico-legal process to doctors and nurses and have developed specific training packages for Obstetric and Neurosurgical practice. I have published articles and case reports in Clinical Risk and Healthcare Risk Report. I was also very pleased to be invited to speak at the national clinical negligence conference of one of the UK’s top Claimant firms on “the Defendant’s perspective”.
In the wider health context I also manage the firm’s relationships with a number of our Midlands based health clients.
