Bevan Brittan LLP Chief Executive, Stuart
Whitfield will today attend a meeting with the Prime
Minister, Tony Blair at Downing Street to discuss
the transformation of the provision of public
services as part of a delegation of CBI members.
Mr Whitfield was invited to meet the Prime Minister
as a member of the CBI’s Public Services Strategy
Board (PSSB) along with CBI Director General, Digby
Jones and other influential PSSB members to discuss
how the quality and efficiency of public services
can be improved and to demonstrate how the PSSB are
working with other stakeholders to try to deliver
this.
Bevan Brittan has been a long standing member of the
CBI and Mr Whitfield became a member of the PSSB
last year.
Mr Whitfield said: “I am pleased to have this
opportunity to discuss these issues with the Prime
Minister. At Bevan Brittan we specialise in working
at the cutting edge of public service reform and as
a firm we have considerable understanding of the
effort and commitment going into the development of
alterative ways of providing our public services.
Over the last decade we have witnessed the creation
of new models for public service delivery, many of
which we are proud to have provided the legal
framework for, such as NHS LIFT and the Building
Schools for the Future programme. These new
partnerships and the growing interdependence of the
public and private sectors have created a new
dynamic in our economy and society which creates
exciting opportunities for the commercial, public
sector and not for profit sectors alike.
The reforms required are sizeable and I hope that
our discussions today will help quicken the pace of
change needed and consolidate our commitment to new
projects.”
