Bevan Brittan's leading commercial team is recognised amongst the market leaders in the provision of specialist commercial law to all areas of the public sector. Our work includes expertise and in-depth experience in Local Government, Health, Central Government and Education fields. Our strength in this area was recognised in our appointment to the OGC Buying Solutions Legal Services Framework Full Commercial Panel (one of only 18 firms nationwide to achieve this) in June 2007.
Our work regularly raises issues concerning the powers of public authorities and the regulatory framework that surrounds them, as well as more intangible issues of public sector decision making. This includes a comprehensive range of advice from procurement issues to accountability frameworks and public probity aspects of the relationships.
We focus on provision of support to a wide range of public sector bodies in their relationships with each other, the voluntary sector and with the commercial world including grant agreements and commercial contracts as well as more complex Public Private Partnership (PPP) schemes where we work closely with our colleagues who carry out major projects work.
Our involvement in national projects has put us at the cutting edge of commercial contractual architecture. We are currently working with PUK on the legal issues in the commercialisation agenda for government bodies, we advised Partnerships for Health on the development of the LIFT scheme, and are advising Partnership for Schools on Building Schools for the Future. Integral to the delivery of such schemes is robust advice and support on procurement, funding arrangements and joint venture structures tailored to deliver the aims of the project.
