If employers dismiss employees wrongfully in breach of contract, they lose the benefit of any post-termination covenants and expose themselves to claims for damages. Increasingly employees use the Employment Tribunal forum as a relatively quick and cost effective way to pursue claims for bonuses, pay in lieu of notice and unpaid wages. Such claims can raise difficult areas of contract law on which we are frequently consulted. We also work closely with our colleagues in Commercial Dispute Resolution in defending County and High Court claims.
