"Renowned for its non-contentious practice and "they always have your best interest at heart and don't push you into a dispute.". Chambers UK, A Client’s Guide to the Legal Profession 2006

We have wide ranging experience of working within the industry’s increasingly complex framework of legislation, procurement systems and contractual obligations.

We pride ourselves on providing fast, practical and reliable advice focused on the needs of our clients – an approach that has helped us receive “praise from clients for ‘attention to detail’, ‘excellent service’ and ‘price’ (Legal 500).

Whether you are involved in procuring or delivering design, construction or operations, we can advise on all stages and any aspect of the process from inception through to completion and beyond.

We can advise on the use of standard or bespoke contracts for specific projects and the implications of risk allocation and management under the relevant documents. We can help agree contracts and sub-contracts and negotiate loss claims. Whenever defects or claims occur, we will quickly provide a comprehensive, practical and cost effective response which could include negotiation, Alternative Dispute Resolution (including Mediation), adjudication, arbitration or litigation. At every stage, we will make sure that ultimate control remains firmly in your hands.

Examples of the breadth and depth of our experience include:

  • Drafting all construction-related documents (professional appointments, pre-construction agreements, building contracts, performance bonds, guarantees and collateral warranties) for numerous of our clients; documentation ranges from 'traditional' consultant and design contractual arrangements, through to  construction management and management contracting including pathfinder expertise and expertise in collaborative construction arrangements;

  • advising public and private sector clients in relation to the construction aspects of PFI/PPP projects in the health, education, defence, 'blue light', waste and leisure sectors.

  • advising on the resolution of actual and potential problems both during and following completion of construction projects, involving commercial-edged advice on avoiding or minimising potential dispute through to the conduct of adjudications and formal litigation and arbitration actions.
