      The Role

      Your work will focus on high-value, long-term projects for the likes of NHS bodies, local authorities and central government agencies, as well as private sector companies. That could mean advising on outsourcing, IT infrastructure and support service agreements on projects as varied as electronic patient records and European grant funding systems.

      Your remit will be broad and interesting, giving you extensive client contact from the outset. Throughout, you’ll be well supported in an experienced, inclusive team.

      The Individual

      The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

      • 5 Years PQE+ 
      • Good experience in drafting and negotiating contracts (including IT contracts) and have some understanding of corporate structures.
      • Demonstrate a real interest in IT or technology law, with a keenness to develop further.
      • In addition to IT experience you should also have experience on advising on non-contentious intellectual property matters preferably including brand strategies, licensing and exploitation
      • An ability to liaise effectively with clients
      • Strong business development skills

      Additionally, you may have worked in Private Practice, establishing yourself as a reliable and capable commercial lawyer dealing with a breadth of clients.       The Construction and Engineering team is based in Bristol and London and consists of 4 Partners and 10 other fee earners who work on a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters for both public sector clients and private sector clients who provide services to the public sector.

      A vacancy has arisen in our London office for a 1-3 Year PQE Solicitor to work in the Construction and Engineering team which forms part of the firm's Commercial & Infrastructure department.

    • Commercial 0-2 PQE Solicitor & 5PQE+ Associate, Bristol

      We are looking for two Lawyers to help with a range of work in our Commercial and Infrastructure Department in Bristol, with much of the work arising from procurements of infrastructure projects or service provision.  The broader department is involved in a wider variety of commercial and complex contracting work: joint ventures, construction and engineering; outsourced service provision; new forms of delivery and funding of works, infrastructure and front and back office services.

      The Role

      We are recruiting an Associate with a minimum of 5 years PQE and a Solicitor with 0-2 years PQE.

      The roles will involve a mix commercial work in a variety of sectors which could range from:

      • Infrastructure projects: highways, waste, energy, education, leisure, regeneration
      • The need for growth including new forms of partnerships and new structures and contracts to deliver services.
      • Variations and contract management including PFI and PPP schemes and outsourcing projects
      • Back office service provision: shared services, in-house, joint venture, outsourcing
      • Front office service provision: shared services, new corporate arrangements
      • Procurement support: running procurements (or bidding) for projects such as those described above
      • Commercialisation agenda with Local Government

      We act for a very large number of Local Authorities, NHS Bodies as well as a number of private sector clients and Registered Providers. Much of the anticipated work will be for Local Authorities and private sector clients bidding back to that sector.

      The Individual

      Our prime requirement is for good lawyers capable of thinking carefully and on their feet but who have considerable drive and energy with experience of or an ambition to help lead and drive our business development in these areas.

      You may currently be in private practice or working for the public sector or in-house.

      You may have experience in, or may simply wish to pursue your career in these areas. Experience is not essential for the right person with drive and enthusiasm.

    • Property Paralegal - Leeds

      Property Paralegal – Leeds

      Bevan Brittan provides practical, high quality and commercially relevant legal services to public, private and third sector organisations. Our experience includes working with clients across central and local government, NHS commissioning and provider organisations, 40 housing associations and over 100 private sector companies.

      We are currently recruiting a Paralegal to join our Social Housing team in our Leeds office. The Social Housing team act mostly for Housing Associations, providing advice on all aspects of property law.

      This role is a fantastic opportunity to work within a busy team on a wide range of property matters, predominantly focused on sales for our Housing Association clients (shared ownership, re-sale price covenant, outright sales, land disposals). Additional tasks will include supporting the partners in the team in relation to acquisition from developers (completion statements, liaising about completion dates, priority searches etc) and supporting the team on security work (reviewing searches, reviewing titles, assisting in preparing disclosures for certificates of title)

      Applicants must be able to demonstrate previous property experience dealing with sales work. The team is a very supportive environment which will provide on the job training for social housing aspects of the role, and you will receive ongoing day to day support from the more experienced lawyers. Previous Social Housing experience is not therefore essential for this role, but an interest in Social Housing would be a real advantage.

      Attention to detail, efficiency and the ability to use your own initiative will be essential for this position, and the ability to work to challenging deadlines will be imperative.
