    • Partner, Contentious Construction - London

A vacancy has arisen for Partner to lead the Construction & Engineering dispute resolution team in the Commercial & Infrastructure department of the London office.

The successful candidate will have a track record in contentious construction work across a wide range of contracts. Experience of JCT and NEC will be essential but experience of PFI/PPP projects at both Project Agreement and/or Construction/Services Contract level will be advantageous. There is an existing caseload of Partner lead work delivered through the London Office and so a following is not essential. However, the successful candidate will have excellent business development skills and be able to demonstrate the ability and enthusiasm to develop and grow contentious construction work delivered from the London office.

The Construction & Engineering team of 14 (4 Partners and 8 other fee earners) are based in Bristol and London, and work on a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters for both public and private sector clients. The Construction & Engineering team sits within the wider Commercial & Infrastructure department and includes a further 21 partners.

Our market-leading Construction & Engineering team has a national reputation in health, education, housing and local authority sectors which is second to none. We also advise clients operating in infrastructure, leisure, highways and renewable energy and waste sectors. We advise on disputes arising from all standard form and bespoke documentation, including professional appointments, pre-construction agreements, building contracts, performance bonds, guarantees and collateral warranties. This ranges from complex PFI/PPP arrangement, to EPC contracts, to traditional and design and build contracts, and through to construction management and management contracting.

Our experienced dispute team advises clients on all formal dispute resolution processes including adjudication, litigation, arbitration and other ADR processes. We also work very closely with the non-contentious parts of our team, and the wider Commercial & Infrastructure department to provide pre-dispute advice and based on our dispute resolution experience, we have developed a significant reputation for our contract review and re-negotiation services, and so avoiding the need for dispute resolution and achieving release of value for clients from their existing contracts.
