    • 3 PQE+ Solicitor/ Associate, Property, Bristol

      The Property Department has experienced significant growth over the last couple of years and that growth is set to continue, with major tender wins on high profile projects across the country.

      A vacancy has arisen within the Commercial Property team in our Bristol office in order to expand the team working on housing developments, working for housing associations and local authorities. The successful candidate will be a Senior Solicitor/Associate able to take on existing development and other property work in the housing field, and other property projects within the Department. Experience in client care and business development would also be useful.

      This role will involve advising housing association and other public sector clients primarily on housing matters ranging from the acquisition and disposal of land and buildings to complex development projects. Good development and asset management experience will be essential, preferably with a substantial element of housing development work, and acting for housing associations will be a real plus.

      The Individual

      The individual would need the following skill set:

      • 5-9 years PQE principally in private practice
      • Experience of working mainly on non-contentious matters (although a mixed-role would be considered)
      • Some experience of managing relationships with key clients on a day to day basis
      • Practical and commercial approach
      • Ability to manage own time efficiently
      • Excellent drafting and legal analysis skills
      • Ability to work as part of a team, leading construction input, on larger projects

    • Partner, Contentious Construction - London

      A vacancy has arisen for Partner to lead the Construction & Engineering dispute resolution team in the Commercial & Infrastructure department of the London office.

      The successful candidate will have a track record in contentious construction work across a wide range of contracts. Experience of JCT and NEC will be essential but experience of PFI/PPP projects at both Project Agreement and/or Construction/Services Contract level will be advantageous. There is an existing caseload of Partner lead work delivered through the London Office and so a following is not essential. However, the successful candidate will have excellent business development skills and be able to demonstrate the ability and enthusiasm to develop and grow contentious construction work delivered from the London office.

      The Construction & Engineering team of 14 (4 Partners and 8 other fee earners) are based in Bristol and London, and work on a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters for both public and private sector clients. The Construction & Engineering team sits within the wider Commercial & Infrastructure department and includes a further 21 partners.

      Our market-leading Construction & Engineering team has a national reputation in health, education, housing and local authority sectors which is second to none. We also advise clients operating in infrastructure, leisure, highways and renewable energy and waste sectors. We advise on disputes arising from all standard form and bespoke documentation, including professional appointments, pre-construction agreements, building contracts, performance bonds, guarantees and collateral warranties. This ranges from complex PFI/PPP arrangement, to EPC contracts, to traditional and design and build contracts, and through to construction management and management contracting.

      Our experienced dispute team advises clients on all formal dispute resolution processes including adjudication, litigation, arbitration and other ADR processes. We also work very closely with the non-contentious parts of our team, and the wider Commercial & Infrastructure department to provide pre-dispute advice and based on our dispute resolution experience, we have developed a significant reputation for our contract review and re-negotiation services, and so avoiding the need for dispute resolution and achieving release of value for clients from their existing contracts.
