I am a senior associate in our Commercial department. My current work covers all aspects of professional conduct and discipline including dealing with cases proceeding before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.
I have also worked within our Regulatory team, where I undertook interventions and enquiry and report work for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), as well as advising the Standards Board for England and various local authorities investigating alleged breaches of the Code of Conduct for elected councillors in England.
I have acted on many interventions giving rise to a variety of complex issues that required appropriate resolution and undertaken a number of enquiry and reports for the SRA on various aspects of legal practice, including both misconduct and inadequate professional service issues.
I also advised the SRA on the successful prosecution of a firm of solicitors involved in the high-profile miners' compensation scheme claims, which attracted widespread media coverage. The trial of the proceedings lasted 20 days, making it the longest ever disciplinary case against a firm of solicitors.
My background is in general commercial litigation. I previously spent eight years working at the Solicitors Indemnity Fund, where I dealt with professional negligence claims against solicitors working across all disciplines of legal practice, before joining Bevan Brittan in 2002.
