• I am a Legal Director with over 15 years’ experience in advising on dispute resolution. I specialise in construction and engineering disputes and act for a range of clients in the private and public sector, including employers, developers, contractors, retailers, local authorities, healthcare bodies and educational institutions.

I advise on a range of issues, including payment disputes, design and workmanship defects, delay and disruption claims, as well as termination challenges. I am regularly involved in all forms of dispute resolution such as court proceedings, adjudication, and mediation, although my focus is always on managing risk and finding pragmatic methods of resolving disputes.

    • Acting for two local authorities in relation to a dispute arising out of the termination of a PFI contract for an waste treatment facility, worth in excess of £200m.
    • Advising a UK subsidiary of a German chemical and consumer goods manufacturer in relation to a £200m claim under a collateral warranty for the defective construction of its UK manufacturing and distribution facility. The claim resulted in multiparty litigation in the TCC and was resolved favourably on a commercial basis following mediation.
    • Acting for a national developer, defending a £150m multiparty claim from a large domestic retailer for defective construction of the substructure of its distribution centre under a JCT form of contract.
    • Supporting a national housing developer in relation to a series of termination account adjudications brought on several projects following the dissolution of its main contractor.
    • Advising a global pharmaceuticals client in respect of a payment dispute arising from defective design of its manufacturing facility, which was defended in full. Advising the client on a subsequent delay and payment dispute arising out of several alleged compensation events under the NEC form of contract.
    • Advising a national energy provider in relation to fire safety concerns resulting in several cladding disputes, which were resolved satisfactorily for all parties by negotiation following specialist investigations into the methods of construction and incorporated materials.
    • Defending an NHS Trust in an adjudicated payment dispute related to the asbestos removal undertaken as part of the refurbishment and regeneration of an A&E department.
    • Acting for a national gymnasium chain in relation to a dispute regarding the acoustic and sound proofing design.
    • Defending a national contractor in relation to a multi-million pound claim being pursued for allegedly negligent professional design advice claimed to have resulted in a failure to achieve planning and loss of opportunity. The dispute was litigated in the TCC and successfully resolved at mediation.
