National law firm Bevan Brittan has appointed corporate property Partner Sarah Skuse as Head of its national Independent Health & Social Care Real Estate team.

The national leadership role is a natural fit for Sarah, who has extensive experience of advising operators, developers, funders and investors across health, social care and senior living on a wide range of real estate matters.

Her expertise was recognised at the HealthInvestor Power 50 event last year. One of only eight women – and the only lawyer – to be shortlisted, she won the ‘One to Watch’ category. Those in the Power 50 said: “One of the most prolific lawyers in our sector, combining limitless energy and drive to grow her client base and deliver ultimately great work for her clients. Sarah is an extremely astute lawyer”.

Sarah has worked on a host of major transactions, including advising Anavo Group on its strategic care home partnership with Octopus Real Estate. In 2022, she supported Anchor to acquire the share capital of Halcyon Care Homes Topco Limited.

Sarah’s appointment comes at a time of rapid growth for Bevan Brittan’s Independent Health & Social Care team, who have won the HealthInvestor ‘Transactional’ Legal Advisor Award for the last three years and last year also won the HealthInvestor ‘Private’ Legal Advisor Award.

Vincent Buscemi, Partner and Head of Independent Health & Social Care at Bevan Brittan, said: “The independent health and social care sector is exciting right now, with transactional activity on the rise both in terms of traditional M&A and restructuring work and through new capital developments.  We are committed to ensuring that we provide our clients with the best possible support as they develop and grow, and with this in mind, we are delighted that Sarah will be using her extensive knowledge and expertise to lead our real estate offering to our clients. She has a proven, impressive track record and has an important role to play as we expand our corporate real estate offering in the months and years ahead.”
