The Head of Bevan Brittan’s Bristol Office says the latest award success for the firm reflects the quality and breadth of their legal and regulatory work and its contribution to supporting Bristol’s local communities.

Rosemary Jago was speaking after the UK Top-100 law firm won the Legal category at the Bristol Life Awards on Thursday evening. The Bristol Life Awards celebrates ‘the best of Bristol’ as the region’s flagship business awards ceremony.

Judges were impressed with how Bevan Brittan had 'pivoted smartly to advise the NHS on emergency Nightingale hospitals and performed exceptionally for a seventh consecutive year of profit growth, developing as one of the UK’s finest law firms.'

This latest positive news for Bevan Brittan comes during a strong phase of growth across the business. In July it announced its eighth consecutive year of revenue growth, and has added eight new partners this year alone, including recent new Partner property finance expert Jessica Church into the Bristol office.

The win continues the firm’s impressive awards track record in 2021 – this is its fourth award win of the year – following recognition at the Bristol Property Awards earlier in the year. Bevan Brittan has also been shortlisted in the 2021 Insider South West Property Awards taking place in October.

The firm advises businesses across construction, energy & resource management, higher education and financial services sectors, complementing the firm’s market leadership within housing, local government and health and social care.

Employing 300 people in Bristol, the firm plays an active role in supporting the city’s dynamic business community. Over the past 12 months, Bevan Brittan has:

  • Donated £10,000 to its Bristol Office charity St Peter’s Hospice.
  • Hosted a live virtual ‘Cook Along’ over Zoom, supporting local Bristol social enterprise 91 Ways to Build a Global City as part of its Black History Month programme.
  • Hosted webinars for local community groups the Black South West Network (BSWN) and Bristol Food Union, providing practical advice during a critical time.

Partner and Head of Bevan Brittan’s Bristol Office, Rosemary Jago said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to win this award, a fantastic achievement that reflects our strength and depth advising businesses and organisation across a broad range of markets, including locally housing, health, energy and sustainability, infrastructure and technology.

“We are proud of our Bristol heritage and of the active role we play in the Bristol business community. As a responsible business, we aim to give something back to the communities in which we work and over the past year we have hosted and participated in webinars addressing key issues for the city, sponsored roundtable discussions and raised vital funds for local charities.

“Our colleagues in Bristol – and across Bevan Brittan – have played a crucial role in supporting this activity and I can’t thank them enough for their continued resilience and dedication during what has been a challenging time for us all. This award win is testament to their commitment.”
