- Law firm begins significant expansion in the North
- New partners and staff hired in Leeds
Bevan Brittan has announced it is opening a new office in Leeds this week as it begins a major expansion of its legal services in the North. The opening takes the firm’s offices to four - alongside London, Birmingham and Bristol.
Bevan Brittan is hiring seven new partners for the office, together with a supporting team of legal professionals and administrative staff. They will be based at Toronto Square, Toronto Street, in the heart of the Leeds business district.
Initial partners joining include:
- Michael Boyd, who is a recognised healthcare lawyer and has specialised in commercial issues affecting the NHS for nearly 20 years. In addition to leading teams advising NHS Trusts on major infrastructure projects, he has advised NHS bodies and private sector providers on regulatory issues, M&A transactions, joint ventures and collaborations along with other commercial transactions
- Julie Cowan-Clark, who has more than 15 years' property experience across the public and private sector. In recent years she has worked almost exclusively for housing associations dealing with complex site acquisitions, security work (including bond issues), issues related to commercial leases and stock transfers.
Further announcements on partner hires will be made in due course.
Duncan Weir, Managing Partner of Bevan Brittan, said:
“We are excited to be opening an office in Leeds and with it a new chapter in the development of Bevan Brittan. Our move is in response to client demand and cements our status as a growing firm delivering national public, private and third sector work.
“We are an ambitious firm with aspirations for sustainable growth, which is why we are making a significant investment and bringing in some of the very best talent in the UK, across both public sector and private specialisms.
“Leeds is a major commercial centre in its own right and also a key centre for the public sector, taking a lead role in the Core Cities programme and housing NHS England’s national HQ. As such, it makes strong strategic sense for us to have a base in Leeds.
“Our commitment to this investment is reinforced by the fact that our Senior Partner, Beth Evans, will be based in our new Leeds office to support its opening and growth.”
Michael Boyd said:
“Bevan Brittan has a strong reputation for advising the public, private and third sector participants in healthcare and also enjoys a high profile in this practice area. Bevan Brittan is enthusiastic about developing the new Leeds office and has already demonstrated its commitment through recruiting and investing in a high calibre team. Joining a new office where healthcare is a key area for growth is a very exciting opportunity.”
Julie Cowan-Clark said:
"Bevan Brittan is a pro-active, forward thinking and enthusiastic firm that provides high quality commercial support to clients across the public and private sector. I am delighted to be joining an experienced national team and being part of the expansion into Leeds."
