I am a commercial property lawyer advising on large-scale development and regeneration projects promoted by local authorities either directly, or through wholly or partly-owned companies.
My experience spans across all areas of the development process from a property perspective, ranging from advising on complex due diligence issues or negotiating development or funding agreements, to acting on the discharge of conditions precedent in transfers, surrenders, agreements for leases and land options.
I also have significant experience of sale of newly-developed housing stock or commercial property.
My transactional experience is complemented by a rigorous understanding of local authority powers and governance processes relating to development or regeneration projects, gained from my extensive work within, and subsequently for, local government. I regularly advise on use of statutory powers for disposal of land, constructing assets, and dealing with third party rights to obtain vacant possession and achieve site assembly before commencement of the construction process.
