National law firm Bevan Brittan has been reappointed to the EM Lawshare Framework – a consortium of over 220 public bodies, including local authorities, fire and rescue, police authorities, national park authorities and NHS Trusts.

This is the second major appointment for Bevan Brittan in as many months, coming after the firm won a place on the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Central Government Legal Services Panel.

Bevan Brittan is one of just ten firms to have been appointed to the £70m EM Lawshare Framework Agreement, which will run for four years from 1 April 2022. The framework covers legal services including civil litigation, procurement, contract, commercial law, property, education, employment, housing, planning and adult services.

EM Lawshare’s primary purpose is to procure legal services from specialist firms, offering value for money through a framework contract. It launched in 2006 with 13 members and has grown to become the largest consortium of its kind in the country, with over 220 members.

Its members are spread across England and include some of the largest local authorities in the country including Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Nottingham and Sheffield City, Cornwall, Kent, Oxfordshire and North Yorkshire county councils.

David Hutton, Partner and Head of Central and Local Government at Bevan Brittan, said: “Public bodies are under unprecedented pressure. That is where our experience of working in partnership with public sector organisations to provide legal advice that helps them navigate the challenges they face can really add value particularly the increase in scrutiny of decisions; demands being placed on many services; the opportunity to redefine place and community whether through levelling up or delivering capital programmes; or just surviving with day to day legal work.

“We are looking forward to bringing this experience to the EM Lawshare members as we continue to support them in the coming years."
