National law firm Bevan Brittan today announces its results for the financial year 2021/22 with revenue exceeding £60m for the first time in its history and profit also increasing year on year.

Income rose by 7.2% to £60.08m in the year ending April 30, up from £56m in the previous 12 months – the ninth consecutive year of growth, during which time revenue has risen by 83%. Growth was seen in both existing and emerging markets, most notably in Financial Services (up by 58%), Independent Health & Social Care (29%) and Energy & Resource Management (24%).

Profit was up 6.6% to £15.7m in 21/22 and has risen 158% during the last nine years.

The financial year also saw a number of significant client wins and seven partners join the expanding firm, which has offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds and London.

Bevan Brittan’s Managing Partner Duncan Weir said: “This is another strong outcome, which demonstrates the benefit of diversifying our markets, the strength and depth of our business and the excellent teams we have across the country.

“Exceeding £60m is a significant milestone for us but there is more to come. This has been a team effort and our ability to attract more high-quality, high-profile clients and recruits to Bevan Brittan shows that we are in a strong position to deliver further growth in the current financial year and beyond.

“It also puts us in a strong position to consider options beyond organic growth, including acquisitions. We see a number of potential opportunities to develop our business further and have already had some interest but we will only pursue an acquisition if it was the right move for us.”

The 12-month period reported saw Bevan Brittan appointed to the prestigious Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Central Government legal services panel and reappointed to the leading local government legal frameworks - EM Lawshare, the London Borough Legal Alliance and the NHS Resolution legal panel.
It announced in May that it had promoted 10% of its lawyers, with 32 colleagues successful across its four offices, including five new Partners, a new Legal Director, 13 Senior Associates and 13 new Associates.

In 2021/22, Bevan Brittan achieved carbon neutrality and awarded the UN’s Climate Neutral Now accreditation as part of its ongoing Responsible Business programme. The business also donated £90,000 to charitable causes in the financial year, including £30,000 to the Disaster Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and £15,000 to each of its four office charities.

The firm won eight legal and business awards across its markets and regions during the financial year and was recognised as one of The Times’ Best Law Firms for the fourth consecutive year.
