National law firm Bevan Brittan has made a positive start to 2021 by appointing a new partner to lead its national Pensions Team.
Pensions specialist Nigel Bolton joins the expanding legal business’ wider Employment, Pensions & Immigration practice, which advises clients across the UK in a broad range of industries including Energy, Health and Social Care, Housing, Higher Education, Local Government and Financial Services.
This latest appointment for Bevan Brittan is part of its wider growth plans and follows a strong 2020, in which revenues topped £50m for the first time, with profit increasing by 13.8%.
What’s more, it became one of the first law firms in the UK to announce in August that it was repaying the money received from the Government’s furlough scheme, which was used for a small number of colleagues.
Nigel, who joins the firm’s rapidly expanding Leeds office from Freeths, becomes the sixth partner to be recruited in the past 12 months by the firm, which also promoted 17 lawyers in 2020, including four new partners.
Jodie Sinclair, partner and Head of the firm’s Employment, Pensions & Immigration practice, said: “Nigel’s appointment reflects the continuing confidence we have in our business and our ability to attract high calibre appointments. I am thrilled that we are able to bolster the depth and breadth of expertise we can provide our clients, who we advise across a broad range of sectors, on the wide range of employment and workforce issues they face. This is even more so given the challenges many of our clients are continuing to face in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.”
Duncan Weir, Managing Partner at Bevan Brittan, added: “I am delighted to welcome Nigel to our business and look forward to working with him to grow our pensions practice, meeting the increasing demand we are seeing for this advice from our clients.
“Having had a strong 2020, despite the obvious challenges every business faced, Nigel’s arrival shows our continued ability and determination to invest in our business and ensure we have good people who understand our clients’ needs and the markets they operate in.”
Nigel specialises in all aspects of pensions law and acts for Trustees and Sponsoring employers of UK final salary and money purchase schemes, as well as for individuals, Trustees and providers of SIPP and SSAS arrangements.
He has widespread experience of advising employers of all sizes and also acts for individuals.
