Leading commercial law firm Bevan Brittan has boosted its energy and resource management (ERM) expertise with the arrival of a specialist partner.
Corporate lawyer Nick Fothergill has joined from Weightmans and specialises in providing support on renewable energy and resource management projects. He has a wealth of experience in advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate reorganisations, commercial contracts, private equity and general company law. Over the last 18 years, he has advised on corporate matters in the wind (both on and offshore), solar/battery, and energy from waste sectors.
Based in London, Nick will add his knowledge and skills to Bevan Brittan’s growing energy and resource management offering. His appointment comes after construction and infrastructure partner Perveen Akhter joined the firm’s Birmingham office, where she will also provide support on major energy projects. Her experience includes advising on the construction aspects of carbon capture and solar projects.

Bevan Brittan's ERM team has 18 specialist partners and over 25 years’ of experience advising on energy, resource management and infrastructure projects.
In the last 12 months alone the firm has advised on more than 100 energy, project finance and PFI transactions. This includes advising leading UK Energy and Resource Management company, Viridor, on the development of an Energy Recovery Facility as part of the £2.1 billion Tees Valley Waste Management PPP.
The team’s expertise includes renewable energy, electric vehicle infrastructure, district energy, strategic energy partnerships, hydrogen and data centres providing clients with deep sector knowledge and market-leading expertise.
Last year, the firm announced a 12th successive year of revenue growth in 2024/25 with turnover reaching £86.7m - up 14% on 2023/24.
