I am a Regulatory lawyer and I lead the Health & Care: Regulatory team in Yorkshire. I have over 20 years’ experience of advising health and care providers within the public and private sector on a broad range of police, health and safety, and regulatory issues.
I am a Solicitor Advocate with rights of audience in all higher courts and I have extensive experience of advising clients subject to civil and criminal enforcement action by the Care Quality Commission and Health and Safety Executive. I also regularly appear as an advocate in complex and high profile inquest proceedings in the coroner’s court. I represent clients (both companies and individuals) in PACE interviews under caution and in the defence of prosecutions. I advise clients under police investigation for corporate manslaughter, which is my particular specialism, having led the team which successfully defended the first NHS Trust to be prosecuted for corporate manslaughter.
I provide training to Board members and health and safety managers on regulatory changes, investigations and compliance.
