  • In partnership with:

Kirtpal Kaur Aujla was joined by Dominic Luscombe, Delivery Director for IMPOWER Consulting, and Kate Dexter, Assistant Director for Family Help and High Needs at Norfolk County Council, for this webinar in which our panel reflected on the progression of children’s social care following the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care in May 2022 in the context of the Government’s strategy and response to its consultation on children’s social care: “Stable Homes, Built on Love” published in February 2023.

We were also delighted to welcome Connor Johnston from the Law Commission. Connor gave an update as to their work in this area and outlined the scope of their review of Disabled Children’s Social Care Law.

    Our panel considered:

    • An overview of the recommendations from the independent review
    • An outline of the proposals in the government’s response to the consultation
    • What outputs from the independent review have been achieved so far?
    • Commercial reality of the pressures facing children’s services in the context of local authority budget setting
    • A frontline perspective – what are the day to day challenges being faced
