Part of our Higher Education Team's autumn webinar series
Webinar | Wednesday 14 October 2026 | 12:00 - 13:00 | 1 Hour
The Higher Education sector has made significant progress in planning for net zero, with many institutions developing decarbonisation strategies and identifying the investment needed to meet their sustainability goals. However, delivering these projects can be challenging in the face of financial pressures, competing priorities and complex estate requirements.
To better understand how institutions are navigating these challenges, we conducted research into the delivery of decarbonisation projects across the sector. Drawing on the findings, this webinar will examine the current landscape, the barriers the sector faces, and the practical solutions helping to drive progress.
Join experts Rupert Lugg, Mark Paget Skelin and Tim Kittow, alongside Xiaofang Xu from Arup, to discuss:
- Key findings from our Higher Education decarbonisation research
- The current status of net zero delivery across UK universities
- Common challenges around funding, implementation and estate management and solutions
- Available grant funding and fully funded delivery models, including EV charging infrastructure
- Navigating property and legal issues in decarbonisation projects
- Practical strategies to accelerate progress towards net zero targets
- An overview of Green Leases and how best to include environmental sustainability issues in lease arrangements
Whether you're responsible for estates, sustainability or capital projects, this session will provide valuable insight into the opportunities, challenges and practical considerations involved in delivering decarbonisation projects across the university estate.
