Leading commercial law firm Bevan Brittan has appointed a new specialist real estate partner who will play a crucial role in developing its presence in the UK’s living sector.
Daniel Halstead joins from Shoosmiths and has more than 20 years’ experience of advising developers, funders, investors and operators on a range of transactions.
Based in Bristol, he will lead the firm’s national living sector offering, covering build-to-rent accommodation, single family rental, student housing, co-living, residential and hotel asset classes.
Daniel has built up an impressive track record working on transactions including purpose-built student accommodation schemes, while he has also advised high-profile clients on mixed use, build-to-rent and co-living schemes.
Andrew Tobin, partner and head of the development construction team at Bevan Brittan, said: “The living sector aligns with our existing market expertise across independent health and care, higher education and housing, so we’re delighted that Daniel is set to drive our presence in this exciting area.
“His established and impressive profile in the market will help us build on our existing experience and really enhance our offering for new and established developers, operators, investors and funders.”
Daniel added: “This is an exciting opportunity with a business that has an impressive reputation in the wider property market and the strength and depth to thrive in the fast-developing living sector.
“I am delighted to have the chance to lead our drive into a sector I know well and feel there is a real opportunity for us to provide high-quality advice and support to a wide range of organisations. The current housing market has a systemic undersupply and the wider Living sector has the ability to meet that challenge by offering a fuller range of options using institutional investment to provide more homes for more people.”
Daniel is the third new partner to join Bevan Brittan this year. The business began 2025 with the appointment of pensions specialist Joel Eytle, while finance expert Kerry Gibbons came on board in February.
