I am a Property Litigation partner. I am regularly instructed in land and property-based disputes, and to deal with estate management issues. This includes: business tenancy renewals; landlord and tenant disputes relating to service charge, rent review, dilapidations and requests for consent; and land disputes in respect of restrictive covenants, easements, trespass and claims for possession.
I have particular experience of working with LPA receivers and for banks/secured lenders, and I frequently assist my property colleagues in advising on large transactions which require specialist litigation input. These are areas of work which I particularly enjoy.
In addition, I am an active member of the Property Litigation Association and I sit on its Northern Committee.
I have worked with James Teagle for a number of years and find him one of the best property litigation partners in the business. He is one of the brightest, most hard-working and resilient, and most affable lawyers around – a real pleasure to work with and a privilege to have as someone fighting your corner.
- Concluding an instruction by a commercial lender involving a residential development site with an estimated gross development value of £52 Million.
- Successfully defending a heavily contested business tenancy renewal over a period of four years, which involved an especially broad range of issues and a claim for injunctive relief.
- Recovering £5.9 Million secured against property and assets belonging to a celebrity which are subject to a restraining order affecting seven properties, shareholdings in two companies, nine luxury cars, savings and investment accounts, and a large wine collection.
James is an excellent lawyer and is very personable.
