I am a commercial contracts lawyer with extensive experience of advising both public and private sector clients on a broad range of complex commercial transactions, including infrastructure projects such as PFI and PPPs, primarily in the health, housing and local government sectors. I also have experience of working in the global health and life sciences sector.
My clients include NHS Trusts, local authorities, independent healthcare providers, facilities management companies and housing associations.
I have particular experience of advising on specialist contracting arrangements including PFI/Projects documentation and related deeds of variation; energy performance contracts; strategic outsourcing arrangements; social housing contracts (including asset maintenance and repair framework contracts); alliance contracts and integrated working arrangements and joint ventures. I also provide advice on general commercial documentation, such as non-disclosure agreements, partnership arrangements, licences and contracts for goods and services (including NHS Standard Contracts).
During 2021-2022, I spent a year on secondment to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, working as a legal advisor to the COVAX Facility to procure Covid-19 vaccines for the world’s most deprived nations, in collaboration with WHO, PAHO, UNICEF, CEPI and the Gates Foundation. I also advised on Gavi’s own ‘business as usual’ commercial contracts and transactions.

- Advising a London Foundation Trust on multiple deeds of variation to its PFI Project Agreement including in relation to (i) the renovation of its critical care unit and the removal of domestic services from its soft FM services regime; (ii) the development of a modular ITU facility abutting the PFI site; and (ii) the drawdown of an additional loan facility in relation to its energy performance contract.
- Advising a Local Authority on the re-procurement of its leisure services contract for the provision of leisure services across 4 sites. Advice provided at all stages of the procurement process from PQQ stage to contract signature.
- Acting for several NHS Trusts on their energy savings projects including deeds of variation to PFI Project Agreements for the installation of solar panels and combined heat and power units and advising on related CHP operation and maintenance contracts.
- Advising NHS Blood and Transplant on its Call-Off Contract with an IT solutions company for the provision of IT software and programming services as part of its core systems modernisation programme.
- Advising Community Health Partnerships Ltd. on its £30m nationwide project for the outsourcing of Soft FM Services across its estate.
- Acting for a London Housing Association on its innovative major asset maintenance and repair framework contracts and service delivery contracts, including relating call-off contracts for handyman services.
- Advising an NHS Trust on (i) a deed of variation to its PFI Project Agreement to transfer the responsibility for payment of energy at the site from the Trust to Project Co and (ii) the related novation of its energy contracts.
- Drafting and negotiating multiple Deeds of Variation to a PFI Project Agreement for Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in relation to a ward reconfiguration project at their PFI hospital.
- Advising University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust on its innovative Alliance Agreement with 3 CCGs and 2 other NHS providers.
- Co-ordinating commercial contracts due diligence in relation to the £200 million acquisition of part of South London Healthcare NHS Trust by King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
- Advising Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Essentia on multiple service agreements, management agreements and licences in relation to an extensive waste management income generation project.
- Six month secondment to AXA Sun Life Direct in 2012, advising the business on a wide range of general commercial and insurance matters and transactions, including data protection and introducer agreements.
