• I am an experienced employment lawyer with a focus on using my technical expertise and academic legal training to find pragmatic and commercial solutions for clients. I have worked for globally-recognised companies, which have preferred to use me as in employment tribunal advocacy, rather than instructing barristers.

I work closely with managing directors, finance directors and HR directors in matters from strategic planning to day-to-day HR matters, but unlike many employment lawyers, I am also experienced in implementing my own advice: meeting directly with clients’ employees in order to address practical employment issues.

I am experienced in corporate support and insolvency matters as well as data protection. I have a particular interest and expertise in equality and diversity matters and dismissals and identifying and mitigating specific risks in those areas.

I am well-known both internally and externally for my skills as a trainer.

I have appeared on national television with both the BBC and Sky News providing commentary on employment law matters in the news.

I was named as a “Rising Star” in the 2021 and 2022 Legal 500 rankings.

    • Successfully defending an NHS Trust against claims of race discrimination in a 15-day Hearing with 27 witnesses, against a Claimant seeking £850k in compensation.
    • Successfully defending the most-visited English-language news website in the world against claims of unfair dismissal, race discrimination and harassment on the grounds of race, including conducting the advocacy over the four-day Hearing.
    • Successfully defending a large manufacturing company against claims of unfair dismissal and disability discrimination, including data protection and human rights issues following the Respondent’s use of evidence from a Private Investigator, including advocacy over the three-day Hearing, in front of 35 trade union representatives attending for training purposes.
    • Preparing and delivering seminars, presentations, conferences, mock tribunals and other training on employment topics, consistently rated as excellent by attendees.
    • Advising SMEs and large multi-national companies on drafting and negotiating employment-related terms in BPAs, SPAs and warranties in corporate acquisitions and disposals.
    • Carrying out a full redundancy collective consultation with 65+ employees of an independent school, including holding staff meetings with all employees, three rounds of consultation with representatives of five trade unions and handling all communications. No claims were issued against the employer.

Holly Cudbill has been superb. Measured considered advice, all suitably practical and achievable.
