I am an employment lawyer and I co-head the Employment, Pensions and Immigration team at Bevan Brittan alongside Jodie Sinclair. I have over two decades of experience working across the full spectrum of employment issues. I advise mainly employer clients across a wide range of sectors and industries, including automotive, financial services, manufacturing, public sector and retail. I cover all aspects of employment litigation, including everything from complex tribunal claims through to High Court restrictive covenant disputes. I also have significant experience and expertise in transactional projects, including TUPE transfer and change management projects, and restructurings and redundancy programmes. I also have a growing level of involvement in industrial relations disputes. Although I act mainly for employers, I do occasionally get asked to act for senior executives in relation to high value severance disputes. My involvement in these helps me to understand employment disputes from the employee’s perspective and thereby allows me to improve the advice which I am able to give to employers.
I have a client-centric approach to everything I do, and see myself and my team members as an extension of the client, enabling us to build deep and enduring relationships with our clients. My clients value me for my clear, straightforward approach, and the speed with which I aim to turn things around. Clients in the employment world generally work to very short timescales and don’t like waiting for their advice!
Alongside my work in private practice, I am a member of the Birmingham Law Society’s Employment Committee and Employment Lawyers Association, and I contribute regularly to Government consultations on new legislation.
I also enjoy training, and have produced and delivered numerous seminars and training sessions on a wide range of employment topics.
