I am a construction lawyer specialising in non-contentious building procurement matters and renewable energy projects, in particular, solar and geothermal. My experience includes work for both the private and public sector organisations.
I have extensive experience & expertise in drafting and amending building & engineering contracts. This includes all versions of the JCT suite of contracts, NEC and institutional forms of contract and IChemE forms of Contracts.
I also advice on the drafting and amendments of consultant’s appointments (industry standard and bespoke), warranties, bonds, guarantees, development & funding agreements, agreement for leases, novation agreements and ancillary project documentation.

- Advised on the development of a new £7 million GP surgery, created through the consolidation of two existing practices. My role included advising on the Building Contract, negotiating collateral warranties, securing additional Contractor side security (including a Performance Bond and Parent Company Guarantee), and preparing bespoke consultant appointments together with associated funder warranties.
- Acted for the Council on its major multi million pound transformation of local leisure facilities, including the development of a new £30.6 million Physical Activity Hub.
- Currently acting for another Council on a £37 million new-build leisure centre, advising on the Pre Construction Services Agreement, the JCT Design and Build Contract 2024, consultant appointments and collateral warranties.
- Acted for a Council on a landmark £50 million redevelopment of the town’s shopping centre, transforming it into a modern mixed use leisure and retail destination, including a 5 screen cinema, a new purpose built Market Hall, food hall, and multiple new leisure and retail units.
- Advised on a major engineering plant project, where the client (as main contractor) was engaged under the IChemE form of contract and let its subcontract packages under the IChemE Yellow and Brown Books. My primary role was to prepare and negotiate the subcontracts. The project value was between £25–30 million.
- Advised a developer on multiple ground mounted solar PV projects across the UK, each valued between £15–30 million. This included negotiating EPC contracts, Advance Payment Bonds, Warranty Bank Guarantees, collateral warranties for landlords, Direct Agreements for funders, and Operations and Maintenance Contracts.
- Advised a developer on a £42 million 10MW flex power and carbon capture project, including drafting and negotiating the EPC contract, associated subcontracts, and the full suite of security documentation.
