Higher Education Autumn Webinar Series
I head up a large team of dedicated specialist energy lawyers working in the energy, renewables, decarbonisation and utilities markets. In particular, I lead our firm’s award-winning heat network and strategic energy partnership (SEP) practices. I am also the firm’s strand lead for environmental sustainability and I was recently one of only 40 individuals in the UK – and 100 worldwide – to be recognised as a Legal 500 Green Ambassador.
I am a market-leading EPC and projects specialist with extensive experience of delivering complex energy and renewable infrastructure projects. I provide legal and commercial support to clients at every stage, taking a project from feasibility and business case development through to construction, project delivery and operation.
I have advised on the majority of the UK’s major strategic energy PPP decarbonisation projects, including Bristol City Leap Partnership, Coventry SEP, Perth & Kinross SEP, York & North Yorkshire, and Guys & St Thomas’ SEP.
These transformative SEP projects seek to leverage billions of pounds of private investment to decarbonise large estates, cities and/or entire regions across several renewable energy sectors including heat networks, solar, wind, geothermal, heat pumps, battery and electric vehicles. Key objectives of these projects are to promote energy security, address fuel poverty, support local supply chains, and create inward investment, skills and jobs.
I have also advised on the successful delivery of major biomass/energy from waste facilities, advanced thermal, anaerobic digestion, MBT/MRF and other infrastructure underpinning circular economy objectives.
My clients include a broad range of private sector (energy companies, developers, funders, contractors and technology/plant supply chain etc.) and public sector entities such as local authorities, registered providers, NHS trusts and universities.
