• I work nationally for clients across health and social care sectors including NHS Trusts, ICB and independent health and social care providers.  

    I advise clients in contentious and non-contentious matters in relation to mental health, mental capacity law and the coronial process. I provide advice and support to health and social care organisations in relation to Court of Protection matters, challenges to treatment decisions, safeguarding concerns, complaints, inquests health and safety and human rights issues.

    I have experience in a range of different matters including Court of Protection proceedings concerning disputes about residence, care, contact, sexual relations, property and financial affairs, deprivation of liberty, human rights, safeguarding, complaints, challenges to treatment and serious medical treatment. 

    I also have extensive inquest experience. I regularly represent NHS Trusts and private providers in coronial proceedings.  This includes providing support to clinicians, witnesses and organisations.   This includes complex Article 2 proceedings and jury inquests. 

    Prior to joining Bevan Brittan I supported and advised individuals and families in a number of areas including civil actions against public authorities, human rights, inquests, judicial review and housing.  

    • Instructed on behalf of the applicant NHS Trust in University Hospitals Trust Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust v Sudiksha Thirumalesh & Ors [2023] EWCOP 43 including in the subsequent appeals process – complex proceedings concerning the withdrawal of treatment and capacity.   
    • Instructed on behalf of the applicant NHS Trust in St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust v Andy Casey & Ors  [2023] EWHC 2244 (Fam) including in the subsequent appeals process – complex proceedings concerning the withdrawal of treatment, correct diagnosis of brain stem death and the procedure for obtaining relevant authority from the court. 
    • Instructed by the ICB and mental health Trust in Bristol City Council v CC & Ors [2026] EWCOP 4 (T3)
    • Advising and supporting an NHS Trusts in Serious Medical Treatment proceedings in the Court of Protection including concerning the treatment of a patient with chronic anorexia and urgent applications for urgent life-saving treatments.
    • Representing NHS Trusts and private health and social care providers in complex inquest involving care home settings, community treatment, hospital settings and prisons where Article 2 is engaged and with juries.
