I specialise in providing strategic support and corporate governance advice to registered providers of social housing.
My work includes mergers, corporate re-structures, new registrations, collaborations and joint ventures, the set-up of diversified structures (including for development), strategic support to boards, charity vires, regulatory advice, charitable conversions, company secretarial support and advice around governance best practice.
Our lead partner Sarah Greenhalgh has felt like part of our internal team. Lawyers can sometimes be intimidating, but Sarah makes you feel like you can ask anything, which is critical. She has an ability to simplify complexity and see the bigger picture.

- Member of the Advisory Board of the National Housing Federation Code of Governance (2020)
- Advised on mergers, including Places for People and South Devon Rural Housing Association, Peabody Trust and Catalyst Housing Limited, Catalyst Housing Limited and Aldwyck Housing Group, Catalyst Housing Limited and Rosebery Housing Association, Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association and Karbon Homes, and Great Places Housing Group and Equity Housing Group
- Advised on the demerger of Golden Lane from Mencap, to become a standalone registered provider
- Implemented large-scale corporate structure reviews for ForHousing, GreenSquareAccord, and Abri
- Advised a dozen Homes England Strategic Partners on the terms of the HESP documentation and devising the arrangements with their delivery partners (across phases 1 and 2)
- Advised Stoke-on-Trent Council on the establishment of a new registered provider of social housing subsidiary for the delivery of regeneration schemes
- Aided the re-structuring and consolidating of group structures utilising the transfer of engagements and amalgamation processes (including for Peabody, Catalyst and Abri)
- Advised on a variety of collaborations between housing associations, charities, developers and local authorities
- Founding member of the sector’s network for Senior Independent Directors to enable peer to peer sharing of ideas and experience
- Supported local authorities and private registered providers with regulatory engagement including the use of the Regulator of Social Housing’s statutory powers and the consumer regulation reforms
- Leads the Bevan Brittan relationship with the Regulator of Social Housing as one of its panel firms
