Our Seasonal round up of Employment Law Issues
I have developed a career working both in and with the NHS over the past 17 years. This has enabled me to offer practical insight to clients, who have noted “you really do understand [us] and the way we work.”
I work with NHS Trusts, Foundation Trusts and Arm’s Length Bodies and advise on all employment and workforce matters within the NHS. I am familiar with the complexities of a varied workforce and structure, impacted by organisational and political change. I have particular expertise in employment status matters and IR35, advising on employee, worker and contractor rights and obligations including how these are being and will be further impacted by the Employment Rights Act 2025, as well as all other day to day operational issues affecting NHS staff at all levels, engaged in all capacities.
I regularly run litigation matters, including complex multi-party cases. These range across the spectrum of issues including disability and race discrimination, unlawful deductions from wages, whistleblowing and TUPE. Many of these cases involve high-profile individuals and need awareness of reputational impact. I also on Special Severance Payments and Cabinet Office Guidance interpretation, bolstered by my experience in house as part of NHS England’s legal team.
My works extends to support both clinical and non-clinical areas. I believe in finding pragmatic, commercial and strategic solutions to ensure the best possible outcome for our clients. My previous experience as a Practice Manager in an independent health facility enables me to recognise the practical issues which arise with the implementation of the law.
I also offer training on Just Culture, investigations, sexual harassment, sickness absence, Tribunal process and expectations and many other topical issues.
