• I am a data privacy and information law specialist. I have previously worked in the public sector as a certified Data Protection Officer as well as in-house privacy counsel for a large global law firm.

I have worked in data protection and information governance for the last 7 years, and oversaw the introduction of GDPR within a large NHS organisation as team leader and Head of IG. My experience includes advising on the regulatory implications for businesses on DPA/GDPR and other global privacy laws, with a particular interest in international data transfers and the impacts of the Schrems II decision of the CJEU. I have advised on all aspects of data privacy within global commercial contracts as well as with UK based suppliers and vendors, and have regularly drafted and advised on Data Sharing / Processing Agreements and issues relating to Controller / Processor responsibilities of contracting parties. In what can be a constantly shifting legal environment, particularly post-Brexit, I enjoy the challenge of keeping pace with legal updates and developments within the data privacy field and being able to provide practical and pragmatic advice to clients which helps them achieve both legal compliance and their business objectives.

I have regularly presented at seminars on the role of the DPO and increased regulation within the data privacy sector. I have advised both public and private sector organisations on data breaches and data subject rights laws and I have extensive knowledge and experience in advising on FOI / EIR legislation within the public sector and the healthcare sector in particular.
